The Report concludes by stating: "Improving rail service and infrastructure in the north of England is a vital enabler of economic growth and productivity.
"DfT has taken steps to set up Northern Powerhouse Rail for success, including identifying key lessons from other programmes. But further work is needed to ensure it aligns with national and local growth plans."
The implication from this Report seems to suggest that the Government should consider other rail schemes in the North and not just Northern Power Rail which would achieve its main objective of Improving rail service and infrastructure in the north of England to enable vital economic growth and productivity.
Other projects, such as SELRAP's rail connectivity across Lancashire and the North would fulfil these aims and objectives.
