CAMPAIGNERS fighting for a disused railway line to be reopened are to hear about a similar successful venture in the north-east.
The first phase of the Northumberland Line, which links Newcastle and Ashington, was reinstated in December 2024 after a successful campaign by the South East Northumberland Rail User Group.
Group chair, Dennis Fancett, will speak about the campaign and answer questions at the AGM of the Skipton and East Lancashire Rail Action Partnership (SELRAP).
SELRAP is pressing for the reopening of the 12-mile Skipton-Colne rail route – which backers say would create huge economic benefits for Keighley, providing a direct rail link into Lancashire.
The AGM is in the council chamber of the town hall, Albert Road, Colne, on Monday, March 9, at 7pm.
